Storm v Tigers

Thu, May 16, 7.50pm

The Storm dispelled talks of a form slump after a massive 54-point win over the Eels last week with the Melbourne juggernaut returning to their clinical best. They will host a Tigers outfit who produced a dominant win over the Panthers in their last match as coach Michael Maguire still battles for week to week consistency from his squad.

Boom rookie Ryan Papenhuyzen will start at fullback for Melbourne as Marion Seve also joins the centres to cover the injured Curtis Scott. For the Tigers, Josh Aloiai will return on the bench in an otherwise unchanged line-up.

Against such quality opposition, Wests coach Michael Maguire will be primarily looking for his squad to back up the effort and intent shown against the Panthers in their last performance. Similarly, Storm mentor Craig Bellamy will be looking for consistency from his troops, particularly leading into the Origin period. Storm to get the points.

Betting Tip: Tigers +12.0 @ $1.91 (Pointsbet)

Panthers v Warriors

Fri, May 17, 6.00pm
Panthers Stadium

Kodi Nikorima’s first game in a Warriors jersey coincided with his new club’s classy win over the Dragons last week and the pint-sized half already looks to be a perfect foil for Blake Green. The Kiwis will face a dejected Panthers squad who slumped to their fifth consecutive loss in a woeful performance against the Tigers last week.

Brian To’o will make his NRL debut on the Panthers’ wing, while Dylan Edwards and Waqa Blake return at fullback and centre respectively. Liam Martin will also return to the side at lock as Sione Katoa takes over the hooking role. Meanwhile, the Warriors have named an unchanged squad for the clash.

Kiwis mentor Stephen Kearney will be hoping his new halves pairing build their combination further, but the addition of Nikorima looks to have injected some much-needed experience and balance to their spine. Their opposition in Penrith are a club in disarray as Ivan Cleary contends with the fallout of their terrible start to the year. Warriors to get the win.

Betting Tip: Warriors H2H @ $2.20 (Topbetta)

Broncos v Roosters

Fri, May 17, 7.55pm
Suncorp Stadium

The reigning premiers produced yet another fantastic performance against the Raiders last week for their eighth consecutive win. They will come up against a struggling Broncos outfit who were buoyed by an encouraging win over an injury-depleted Sea Eagles last week in a massive test for the Brisbane club.

Injured Roosters captain Boyd Cordner will be replaced by Mitchell Aubusson in the second-row as Lindsay Collins joins the bench. Meanwhile, Brisbane have suffered a massive blow with centre Jack Bird ruled out with a season ending knee injury. Jamayne Isaako will return on the wing with new signing James Segeyaro also likely to join the 17 after being named in the reserves.

The Roosters will head into the match as favourites, but should be wary of a Brisbane outfit who looked a different football team with rookie Jake Turpin at dummy-half. The Broncos will need to produce their best performance of the year to challenge the reigning premiers, and while they won’t make it easy for their opposition, expect the Roosters to get the win.
